Case Study: EV Charge Channel Installation at the University of Salford

The University of Salford explored an innovative approach to electric vehicle charging to support its sustainability goals and improve accessibility across campus. With limited space and a strong focus on safety, aesthetics, and user experience, a traditional above-ground charging solution was not suitable.

A below-ground EV Charge Channel (EVCC) was installed to discreetly route power from the electricity supply to the kerbside, allowing vehicles to charge without trailing cables or street clutter. The solution integrated seamlessly into the existing environment, maintaining clear pedestrian access while delivering a safe, durable, and future-ready charging option.

This installation demonstrates how universities and other public institutions can adopt practical EV infrastructure that supports decarbonisation targets without compromising the look or functionality of shared spaces.
